Meet Dr. Lauren Brownfield. Known as “The Gum Whisperer,” Dr. Lauren Brownfield is a leading periodontist and implant specialist in Houston, Texas. She offers a comprehensive range of services—from advanced periodontics and dental implants to personalized aesthetic smile design—all delivered with the highest quality of care in a welcoming, compassionate environment. A native Houstonian, Dr. Brownfield graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston. During her DDS training, she received the Department of Prosthodontics Outstanding Achievement Award and was selected for the DBEC Undergraduate Clinical Specialty Clerkship in Periodontics. She then completed a rigorous three-year residency in Periodontics and Implantology at UTHealth, where she earned a Certificate in Periodontics and Conscious Sedation as well as a Master of Science degree—further solidifying her expertise in creating and maintaining healthy, beautiful smiles.

Dr. Brownfield is Board Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a specialty recognized by the American Dental Association. Passionate about giving back, she regularly volunteers her expertise to underserved communities in Texas and abroad. As a faculty lecturer in the Department of Graduate Periodontics at UTHealth School of Dentistry, she shares her knowledge with the next generation of specialists. An active clinical researcher, Dr. Brownfield has contributed to studies on ridge preservation, bone healing, and implant success. Most recently, she presented her findings at the American Academy of Periodontology’s annual meeting in Hawaii and was named a finalist for the John F. Prichard Prize, with an upcoming presentation at the Southwest Society of Periodontists winter meeting in Dallas.
An engaged member of the Greater Houston Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Greater Houston Society of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, and the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr. Brownfield also serves on the Young Clinicians Committee of the Academy of Osseointegration, where her research will be featured in the upcoming newsletter. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, training for the Houston Half Marathon, and spending quality time with her husband, family, and friends.
